Violet Sterling

deed to Burleigh House to free it from the king’s control,

The blurb for A
Treason of Thorns really intrigued me – I loved the idea of
magical houses – and I’m glad that I read it.
Violet was a good
protagonist. Her love for Burleigh House was understandable having
grown up there, and it must have been so devastating to see what
Burleigh had become in Violet’s absence.
I also liked Wyn and
really liked Esperanza and Alfred, especially their interactions as
they were so sweet together.
The plot was good
and held my attention. There weren’t particularly any unexpected
big twists, but I was still interested.
I liked that there
was Jewish representation.
There were a couple
of things that bugged me, but they were only little things.
I really loved the
concept of magical houses that could effect the countryside. It was
fairytale-like in a way, but could also be very creepy. I would
definitely read a book about any of the other houses, especially the
ones in other parts of Europe, like Italy or France. I think it would
be interesting.
The writing style
was easy to follow and I would definitely consider reading more books
by the author.
Overall, this was an
enjoyable read that I would recommend.
