Easter Readathon Wrap-Up

Over the Easter weekend I took part in the Easter Readathon hosted by Kate at Reading Through Infinity.

 The readathon ran from 12.01am Friday 2nd April through to 11.59pm Monday 5th April and Kate ran some live reading sprints over on her YouTube channel with some other bloggers.

So, how did I do?

 

Book One - read from Friday to Sunday

Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin 

Rating: 3/5 stars

The plot was interesting and I liked the writing style, but I wasn't gripped by the story.

Book Two - read on Sunday

The Starlight Watchmaker (The Watchmaker and the Duke, #1) by Lauren James

Rating: 2.5/5 stars

I enjoyed parts of this, but did get a little bored. However, I don't think I was the right demographic for this (it is intended for young readers who aren't very confident) and can definitely see other people enjoying it.

Book Three - started on Monday

The Switch by Beth O'Leary

I managed to read up to page 115, so I didn't get to finish all the books on my Easter Readathon TBR, but I managed to read two out of the three books which I'm happy about.

Totally Spies Readathon Wrap-Up

Throughout July I participated in the Totally Spiesathon, a Totally Spies-themed readathon created and organised by Noura at The Perks of Being Noura, which took place throughout the entire month.

I was part of Team Sam (she was always my favourite when I watched the show).

Here's how the readathon went for me . . .

Book One

I rolled a five.

Prompt number five = free choice! Choose whichever prompt you like from the list!

I chose prompt two (read a book with yellow, red or green on the cover (depending on team).

As I was on Team Sam, I chose a book with green on the cover, Wilder Girls by Rory Power. I rated this 2.5 stars.

 

Book Two

 I rolled a six.

Prompt number eleven = book that starts with 'A', 'S', or 'C' depending on team.

I chose Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim which I gave 2.5 stars.

 Book Three

I rolled a two.

Prompt number thirteen = 'Truth or Scare': pick some books from your shelf that you haven't read yet and randomise your next read!

I chose The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso which I gave 3.5 stars.

 

I then rolled a three, taking me back to the start and finishing Round One.

Book Four

I rolled a four.

Prompt number four = a book by a black author (any genre).

I chose Becoming by Michelle Obama which I gave 3 stars.

Book Five

I rolled a four.

Prompt number eight = a book you think you'll love.

I chose Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell (illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks) which I rated 3.5 stars.

 

Book Six

I rolled a three.

Prompt number eleven = Sam: a book with a smart female character.

 I picked The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage (the Mostly True Story of the First Computer) by Sydney Padua which I gave 3.5 stars.

Book Seven

I rolled a two.

Prompt number thirteen = choose any prompt from Round 1 or 2.

 I chose prompt number fifteen (book of choice) and The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood which I gave 2.5 stars.

Book Eight

I rolled a two.

Prompt number fifteen = book of choice!

I chose The Weight of Our Sky by Hanna Alkaf which I rated 3.5 stars.

And that was how my reading in July went!

 Kate at Reading Through Infinity hosted a readathon over Easter for the second year.

This was my first ever readathon but I wasn't expecting to get much reading done as I recently got a puppy.

I am pretty happy with what I managed to read. 

 

I finished off Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan which I gave 3.5 stars (my review can be found here) and Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton which I gave 2.5 stars.

 

 I read Shades of Magic Vol 1: The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab which I gave three stars and I managed to start The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman.

I didn't get everything on the bingo card but I got quite a few.

 Kate at Reading Through Infinity is hosting a readathon over Easter. This will be the second year she has hosted it and I've decided to give it a go!
This will be my first ever readathon! 
I'm not expecting to get much reading done as I recently got a puppy who is taking up most of my time, but I'm determined to give it a shot.

Heart of Thorns (Heart of Thorns, #1) by Bree Barton - new-to-me author.



I'm hoping I'll get to read at least one of the following books as well . . .

Splintered (Splintered, #1) by A.G. Howard - new-to-me author, green cover.
Shades of Magic Vol. 1: The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab - graphic novel that's been on my TBR for ages.

 The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials, #2) by Philip Pullman  - involves an animal or pet (daemons count right?)
Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds - yellow cover, new-to-me author, author of colour.
